New BPL Technology Services Librarian - Nancy

Nancy Swenson recently accepted the Technology Services Librarian position at the Brookings Public Library. Nancy grew up in Pipestone, MN, and moved to Brookings to attend SDSU. She graduated with her bachelor’s degree in English from SDSU in 2007, her master’s degree in English from SDSU in 2010, and her master’s degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Kentucky in 2013. Nancy spent almost 9 years at Daktronics, working in software technical support, training, and product management, giving her a strong technology background. She spent the last 3 years working as a grant program specialist for the College of Nursing at SDSU. Since 2014, she has worked part-time at the Brookings Public Library as a library assistant.  In her freetime, Nancy enjoys spending time with her husband and their dog, crafting, and, of course, reading. She is excited to familiarize herself with this new role and finally get to do her dream job!

New BPL Administrative Assistant - Jen

I was born and raised on a dairy farm outside of a small rural town of Atwater, MN where I graduated from ACGC High School. There was never a day off growing up. During my busy life helping out on the family farm, never kept me away from my passion of sports. I enjoyed my younger days on the farm as I was able to help both my grandparents and my immediate family in the family business. After I graduated from high school, I attended Ridgewater College in Willmar, MN.

While getting a degree as an Administrative Assistant, I kept myself busy as a three sport athlete in volleyball, basketball, and softball for Ridgewater College. Here, I met my husband, JaColby Anderson.

After college, we both lived in Brookings for a short time before moving to Willmar, MN. JaColby taught at the High School while coaching hockey and baseball, I worked as an administrative assistant at Prairie Lakes Education Center in the Willmar Public School District. JaColby is in his first year with his new job at the Mickelson Middle School.  We have three wonderful children; oldest daughter Jordyn (6), sons Juke (4), and Jerrick (1). Majority of my free time is spent with my family. We also spend a lot of time at the ice rink with my daughter on the Termites team and cheering on their dad while he is coaching the Brookings Rangers hockey team.
