MARY HAUG PRESENTATION

Longtime Brookings resident and author Mary Alice (Woster) Haug hold a book signing and presentation on her latest book, Daughters of the Grasslands, on Thursday, October 30 at 7 pm at the Library.

The book weaves South Dakota stories of spirituality, mothers and daughters, and knowing oneself with the author’s experience of living in Daejeon, South Korea as an exchange professor in 2006.  Begun simply as a record of a visit to a fascinating but very different world, the author found ceremonies and events triggered memories of growing up in South Dakota, creating a beautiful memoir of family life in both places.

Books will be available to purchase.

Fletcher spends seven months a year on the road where he often gives as many as four recitals a week.  Each concert features a major Bach piece, a Spanish piece, and a work that he has transcribed for the guitar.  He also includes a new commissioned work so to always offer something fresh to the audience.

Fletcher’s recordings include The Art of Classical Guitar, A Peter Fletcher Recital, Federico Mompou: Guitar Works, Peter Fletcher plays Erik Satie, Peter Fletcher Plays Baroque Music for Guitar and the newly released Edvard Grieg.    All have received critical acclaim.
