The Brookings Public Library announces two ebook classes and two digital magazine classes to be held during January.

Did you get an e-reader or tablet for Christmas? We are offering two ebook classes this month on how to download ebooks to your device from our two digital collections, South Dakota Titles to Go and Axis 360.  Whether it’s a tablet, e-reader, or smart phone, we can help facilitate your access. The classes will be offered on Wednesday, January 14 at 2:00 pm and Thursday, January 29 at 7:00 pm.

Learn how to download issues of popular magazines to your tablets, iPads, smart phones and computers through the use of Zinio, a new service at the Library. Patrons have unlimited multi-user access to fifty-four complete digital magazines.  Zinio's unique technology digitally recreates a magazine page for page, including full color pictures, intuitive navigation, key word article search and interactive elements such as audio and video.  Two Zinio classes have been scheduled on Tuesday, January 20 at 1:30 pm and 7:00 pm.

Because all classes, both ebook and Zinio, are limited in size, registration is required. Please call 692-9407 to register.

The Brookings Public Library seeks proposals for the operation of a coffee shop within the Library, located at 515 Third Street.  The Library has housed a coffee shop on the second floor of the building for the past five years and seeks a new service provider.   Proposals due by January 30, 2015.  More information is available at http://cityofbrookings.org/DocumentCenter/View/2561  or contact Elvita Landau at 692-9407.

Tuesday,January 20 is Library Day at the DQ.  From 5-8 pm, a portion of their proceeds will be dedicated to help fund children's programming at the Library.  Enjoy a treat or a meal and help the Library!  Thanks for your support.
